Q: How far in advance should I get my moving quote?

A: We find the ideal time to get a quote is 3-4 weeks before your planned moving date. You should always be sure to select your moving company quickly, even if your move isn’t for a good few more weeks.

Q: How long will it take to get a quote?

A: Often you will start receiving quotes within a few hours, but typically you should get all your quotes within 1-2 business days.

Q: Can you get me quotes for goods I’ve purchased from Trade Me?

A: Sure. We can get you quotes for the freighting of any online purchase – just click the “selected items” icon on our homepage. (The only exception to this is small items that should either be posted or couriered).

Q: How do I pay for your service?

A: Our service to you is free of charge.

Q: Do you use reputable companies?

A: All moving companies used by Smartmove have been selected because they are reputable and have a track record of delivering a great service.

Q: When do I start dealing with the moving company directly?

A: As soon as they have provided a quote, you can begin dealing directly with the moving company of your choice. It’s important to note that all financial and contractual matters related to your move are handled between yourself and the moving company you choose.

Q: Does Smartmove guarantee my move?

A: No, once you have accepted a quote for your move, your relationship is with the mover only and Smartmove is no longer involved in the process. We will be in touch again after your move to ask you to rate the service you received, and to ensure you were happy with everything.

Q: What about insurance?

A: The moving company you select can arrange transit and/or storage insurance for you.
